Indiana Health Coverage Programs pays for long-term care in a Medicaid-certified nursing facility once a member meets the required nursing-facility level-of-care criteria. Coverage can come either through Traditional Medicaid fee-for-service or through Indiana PathWays for Aging, depending on which arrangement applies to the member.
Financial eligibility is its own separate hurdle. Indiana's published 2026 long-term-care screen sets a $2,000 countable-resource limit and a $2,982 monthly income cap for a single applicant, on top of the nursing-home level-of-care requirement. Anyone whose income lands above that cap should be looking into a Qualified Income Trust well before assuming Medicaid will simply pick up the bill.
