Michigan's asset rules split by category, and it's easy to apply the wrong number if you're not careful. For the SSI-related categories that cover nursing home care, MI Choice, and PACE, the state's Bridges Eligibility Manual sets the limit at $9,950 for an asset group of one and $14,910 for an asset group of two.
Those figures are specific to long-term-care eligibility groups. Michigan's regular, non-LTC SSI-related Medicaid categories use a separate and much lower limit — $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple — so it matters which program a family is actually applying under before assuming either number applies.
