The Iowa Insurance Division is the regulator overseeing long-term-care insurance in the state, and its consumer materials list the kinds of care a policy might cover: home health care, respite care, hospice, adult day care, nursing homes, and assisted living. On the sales side, the Division's producer-training rules require an insurer to document that an agent has completed the required training before that agent can sell, solicit, or negotiate any of the insurer's long-term-care products.

That training requirement is fairly specific: a new producer needs eight continuing-education credits before making a first sale, and returning sellers need four credits each continuing-education term to keep selling. That level of detail confirms Iowa maintains an active regulatory framework for LTC insurance sales — but it doesn't guarantee that every insurer currently has a policy on the market, or that any given available policy covers a particular care setting a family might need.
