Delaware's Nursing Facility Program pays for care at Delaware nursing facilities under contract with Medicaid. To qualify, DMMA requires applicants to be Delaware residents willing to enter a nursing facility and accept Medicaid coverage, and applications route through the Medicaid Central Intake Unit.
Clinically, these facilities serve residents who are elderly, infirm, or disabled, providing room, board, and nursing services. DMMA's medical criterion for the program requires a skilled or intermediate level of care as determined under Delaware Medicaid rules — a separate hurdle from the financial eligibility review that also has to be cleared.
Financially qualifying residents keep a personal-needs allowance of $75 per month, with the balance of income directed toward the cost of their care.
