Massachusetts Medicaid Long-Term Care

In Massachusetts, Medicaid goes by the name MassHealth, and it's the Executive Office of Health and Human Services — acting through its Division of Medical Assistance — that runs the show under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 118E and the eligibility rules at 130 CMR 515.000.

For long-term services and supports specifically, MassHealth coverage can extend across nursing-facility stays, home- and community-based services, and the hospital and prescription-drug care that goes along with them. On the community-services side, the state's estate-recovery materials point to a cluster of waivers — Frail Elder, Acquired Brain Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Moving Forward Plan, Community Living, and Adult Supports — as the vehicles through which many of those long-term services and supports actually get delivered.
