The Colorado Division of Insurance, housed within the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), oversees the state's insurance industry, including a dedicated long-term-care section within its regulations (4-4 Long Term Care) alongside statutory coverage under Title 10, Article 19. Anyone shopping for a policy should work from the Division's current insurer, producer, filing, and consumer-protection resources rather than a generic national sales pitch.
It's worth remembering that long-term-care insurance is a private contract, entirely separate from Health First Colorado. The benefit triggers, elimination period, daily or monthly benefit amount, inflation protection, reimbursement-versus-indemnity structure, premiums, and nonforfeiture terms all determine whether a policy will actually mesh with home care, assisted living, or nursing-facility costs down the road. Colorado does maintain Partnership regulations, but current public materials don't establish whether new-sale Partnership policies are actively available — that's a question to put directly to the insurer and the Division.
