South Dakota's Division of Insurance oversees long-term care insurance sold in the state, and its consumer-facing page points to both the Long-Term Care Partnership program and the list of companies actively licensed and marketing LTC coverage there.

The Division's current company list shows several individual Partnership carriers actively marketing in South Dakota, including LifeSecure, Mutual of Omaha, New York Life, and Northwestern Long Term Care Insurance Company — though no group Partnership companies currently appear in that category. That's evidence the individual market remains open, not an endorsement of any particular carrier or a guarantee that every applicant will qualify for coverage.
