Starting January 1, 2026, the non-MAGI Medi-Cal property limit sits at $130,000 for a single applicant, $195,000 for a couple, and an additional $65,000 for each extra household member, up to a household cap of ten people. These reinstated limits apply across long-term care, aged, blind, disabled, medically needy, and other non-MAGI Medi-Cal categories (DHCS ACWDL 26-02).
This isn't a continuation of an old rule — it's a genuine reversal. Assembly Bill 133 eliminated California's asset test entirely on January 1, 2024, and Assembly Bill 116 then brought it back on January 1, 2026. New applicants have had to report assets since that January 1 date, while people already enrolled report at their next annual renewal on or after it (CANHR, 2026 Asset Limit Reinstatement FAQ).
