# Washington Medicaid Asset Limits

Last updated 2026-10-20

For SSI-related long-term-care applicants, Washington sets its base resource standard at $2,000 for a single person or an institutionalized spouse, rising to $3,000 for a legally married couple, subject to the married-couple provisions built into the regulation. A person holding a qualified long-term-care Partnership policy can qualify for a higher resource standard tied to the benefits that policy has actually paid out.

Those numbers don't mean every dollar a family owns gets counted automatically. Washington's rule layers on ownership, availability, exclusion, vehicle, life-insurance, burial, and trust provisions, so the real answer for any given asset depends on who holds title, whether it's accessible, where it came from, and which program is being applied.

## Washington figures

- Individual/institutionalized-spouse resource standard: $2,000
- Married-couple resource standard: $3,000
