# Tennessee Medicaid Asset Limits

Last updated 2026-10-20

TennCare's current Long-Term Services and Supports Financial Rules Guide sets a $2,000 countable-resource limit for a one-person CHOICES household, and the consumer-facing CHOICES materials repeat that figure: the total value of what an applicant owns can't exceed $2,000, while the home they live in doesn't count toward that number.

That exclusion for the home isn't a substitute for a real title and equity review. TennCare's resource policy separately defines what counts and what's excluded, and details like ownership structure, whether the asset is actually available, a spouse's interest in it, existing liens, or a proposed transfer can all change the outcome for a specific family.

## Tennessee figures

- Individual resource limit (one-person CHOICES household): $2,000
