# Oregon Medicaid Long-Term Care

Last updated 2026-10-20

**Quick answer:** Oregon Medicaid (the Oregon Health Plan) can pay for long-term care at home or in a facility through its OSIPM long-term care pathway. The 2026 countable-income standard is $2,982 a month, unless the applicant has set up a qualifying trust.

Oregon's Medicaid program goes by the name Oregon Health Plan, or OHP, and the Department of Human Services (ODHS) confirms that Medicaid can pay for long-term care for anyone who meets the applicable eligibility rules — whether that care happens in the person's own home or in a facility.

There isn't one universal financial test that covers every long-term-care situation in Oregon. The state's own OSIPM/MAGI comparison chart lays out a distinct long-term-care-services path under OSIPM, separate from MAGI eligibility, and directs staff to weigh income, resources, transfer-of-assets rules, home equity, and community-spouse provisions where they apply.

For the core OSIPM long-term-care pathway, Oregon's rule (OAR 461-155-0250) applies a 300%-of-SSI countable-income standard, unless the applicant has already set up the qualifying trust described in that same rule. The state's January 2026 transmittal pins that long-term-care countable-income standard at $2,982 a month.
