# Nebraska Nursing Home Medicaid

Last updated 2026-10-20

Nebraska DHHS confirms that Medicaid pays for services delivered inside nursing facilities, and its public description of covered items is fairly comprehensive: a standard room, dietary and nursing services, the social services a facility is required to provide, most medical supplies and equipment, oxygen, and other routine care the facility must furnish.

Passing the financial screen and having an open bed aren't enough on their own, though. DHHS lists both meeting nursing-facility level of care and satisfying the program's definition of medical necessity as separate criteria for nursing-facility Medicaid — meaning a family should expect both a care-needs assessment and a standard financial eligibility determination before coverage is approved. Nebraska also sets a nursing-facility personal-needs allowance of $75 a month for residents receiving this coverage.
