# Idaho Medicaid Look-Back Period

Idaho's transfer review window runs 60 months — five years — counting backward from the date someone applies for Nursing Home Medicaid or a Medicaid Waiver. Per the state's current 2026 eligibility guide, this look-back covers transfers made by either the applicant or their spouse, and it's designed to catch situations where property was given away or sold for less than it was worth.

Idaho Code adds statutory teeth to this: transfers of real or personal property made without adequate consideration, occurring after the look-back dates set by federal Medicaid law, can be treated as voidable under Idaho Code § 56-218. Practically, that means any sale, gift, or title change involving a Medicaid applicant needs solid paperwork behind it — an informal family arrangement described after the fact won't hold up the way a documented, arm's-length transaction will.
