# Idaho Medicaid Asset Limits

Last updated 2026-10-20

According to a current 2026 Idaho eligibility reference, a single applicant seeking Nursing Home Medicaid needs to keep countable assets at or under $2,000, and monthly income has to stay below $3,002. That same $3,002 threshold applies to a single Medicaid Waiver applicant as well. DHW's own income-limits page didn't display this long-term-care table in the material located for this review, so it's worth double-checking the number directly with DHW before relying on it for an application.

Idaho takes the income-cap approach rather than a medically-needy spend-down model for its institutional and waiver pathways. That means someone earning more than the cap doesn't automatically get shut out — the 2026 guide points to an irrevocable Qualified Income Trust, commonly called a Miller Trust, as the accepted fix, with the important catch that Idaho itself must be listed as the trust's remainder beneficiary. This isn't a flexible savings vehicle; it's a narrowly defined legal instrument with its own filing requirements.

## Idaho figures

- Individual asset limit: $2,000
- Individual income limit (Nursing Home & Waiver): $3,002/month
