# Arizona Medicaid Asset Limits

Last updated 2026-10-20

AHCCCS's February 2026 eligibility chart sets the ALTCS gross-income standard at 300% of the Federal Benefit Rate — $2,982 a month for an individual — alongside an individual resource limit of $2,000. Applicants also have to show they need nursing-home level of care or its equivalent, and they may owe a share of cost even once approved. Because this is an income-cap framework, simply being over the cap isn't something ordinary medical spending resolves on its own.

AHCCCS calls the permitted trust vehicle an Income-Only Trust, also known as a stream-of-income, income-cap, or Miller trust. It can bring someone under the 300%-of-FBR gross-income test, but it can only be funded with the applicant's income — never resources — and it has to start with a zero balance. Importantly, the same policy says an Income-Only Trust doesn't help when a net-income test applies instead, so confirming which test governs a given living arrangement has to come before setting one up.
